HAVELOCK NEWS.

The annual installation ceremony in connection with the Masonic Lodge, Havelock 104, Avas performed on Friday evening last by R. W. Bro John Ccnolly, Grand Superintendent of Nelson and Marlborough, assisted^by P.M.'s Bros. Howard, SturrOck, Thompson, Scott, White, Kirby, Bolton, and Stratford, the following lodges being represented, viz., Unanimity and Wairau, Blenheim; Waitohi, Picton; Victory and Southern Cross, Nfslson; Uananimity, Lyttelton; and Phoenix, Westport. Bro. James Brownlee having been installed W.M. for the second term by the R.W.G.S., the following officers ■, were invested by the WJVI.:— 1.M.P.M., Bro. H. J. Stratford; S.W., Bro. H. J Smith; J.W., Bro. A. H. Hale; Treasurer, PM. Bro. W. P. Simmonds; Secretary, P.M. Bro. V. C Venimore; S.D., Bro. E. Scott; J.D.; Bro. John Donald; 1.G., Bro. D. Grant; Tyler, Bro. F. J. Pope. At tho conclusion of the ceremony the "fourth degree" was held in the Public Library, when the usual toasts were honoured and a" programme of song and; recitation rendered by Bros. Coiibllyj. Sturrock, Thompson, Clarkson, and Smith.
The operations for raising the submeiged Golden Point dredge, Wakamanna, were successful to the extent of bringing her to the surface on Sat-urday-evening, but she unfortunately listeq and again sank; Operations have been resumed, and the experience of Saturday will be provided against on her again being brought to the surface.' There is every confidence of refloating the dredge. " Mrs Erskine, of Maliau, Pelorus Sound, who has been in indifferent health for some time, was brought to Havelock to-day (Monday), and will be taken to- Blenheim to-morrow for medical treatment.
.. Mr W. Perry, of Havelock, leaves to-morrow' for the Picton Hospital, this gentleman's health having recently been of some concern to his relatives and friends.
Somewhat belated information has reached here announcing the death of .Mr W. Corkill at Taihape on 9th February. The deceased was identified with the early days of Havelock, having, at one time, been the owner of the All Nations' Hotel, and subsequently residing at the foot of what is Until now known as Manx's hill—the familiar name of Manx having attached itself to Mr Corkill from, presumably, the Isle of Man haying been his birthplace. ' ' ■
