TEACHERS' SUPERANNUATION FUND.
: The Education Department notified that (1) At present deduction from salaries should be according to the statements of the individual teachers. Any verification of age required will be undertaken by the Department,, (2) , The deductions are to be paid in the P O. to the credit of the Public Trustee, and a list of them sent to the Department. (3) Teachers who elect'to Tom the fund in January must contribute from the Ist of that month; -teachers who join later may contribute from Ist January or from Ist ot the month in which they elect to join. ~~ Received. SCHOLARSHIPS. The Secretary read the minute of a special meeting of the Board held on ,16th -Feb., .when the. allotment ot the Junior National Scholarship to Dorotlr- Grace Heffer was revoked and the award given to Miss Monica INeuman, Havelock Suburban. The Chairman, reading the Act, ruled that it would be necessary tor the Board to formally revoke its previous appointments, and at the next meeting appoint Miss Neuman. Mr Chaytor voiced the appreciation by members of the Chairman's! trouble in getting the Act dealing with the queftion at his fingers' ends, .and thus keeping the Board out of difficulty. GRASSMERE SCHOOL "Mr•Ferguson reported that he had, a/ requested, marked out the site ot the n&w school on the highest piece abutting on the road near Mr Gil-, mours He recommended that the old fencing be allowed' to remain on the ground. Mr Ferguson's action was approved. Ifc was stated'that new fencing would be required on two sides. Thß'-architect reported that Mr t»ib6on had signed the contract tor the school, and work would be commenced immediately. REPAIR OF SCHOOLS. Mr Chaytor reported upon the work done at the Marlboroughtowu School. Further small work was^ required. The Board instructed Mr Baillee (the itinerant;, workman) to next proceed >vith repairs at the Seddon school. '," ' , v ,SEA .VIEW. >( - The architect reported visiting the site of the new school, which was alv most completed. The school had been started at the wrong place, and then Tequired shifting. The contractor had intimated that he would claim compile inspector saiu he had told Mr Casey to explain the position of the site. He thought a word from Mr Ferguson would settle the whole Mr Ferguson undertook to fix the lines for fencing, etc ~ Tahuahua or Blackwood Bay—Letters were received from Mrs Budge (the correspondent) and Mr Woodgate, containing conflicting statements ot the positions of the rival school projects. The latter recommended that the Inspector visit the Bay, and see ■for himself.—This recommendation vas adopted. Ward (Flaxbourne)— The Education Department wrote recommending that tenders be forthwith called for the aiew school at Ward.—The recommendation was adopted; the architect to liav« plans prepared and tenders ready for the nest meeting, lhe giant was available.—Desks were granted tor the temporary school. . Cullensville—The Chairman reported that he had sanctioned the expenditure of £4 on repairs at the Cullensville school. His action was approved. —The accouiit for £G &* Od was added to those passed. '~,,, „„ Blenheim—On the architect s\ iecommendation, it was resolved that. , the outbuildings required at the girls school he erected in iron, instead of brick.—The Committee liaving asked the Board to thaw the Truant Officer s attention to the fact of the low aversige attendance, the request was agreed to. Can vastown— 'flip Committee applied to luive ventilators installed, and that-the boundary of the school district be extended towards Deep Creek. The matter of ventilators agreed to; but further information as to reasons for extending school district was asked Deep Creek—The teacher (Mrs Fisk) wrote . stating that the school bad dwindled to three children; and asked if an arrangement could be made allowing for teaching only three days per week.—Resolved that the Act would not allow such a proceeding. Wilson's Bay—Miss Lilian l<oote tvas appointed teacher,! Kainui. Crail Bay—lt was agreed to the establishment of a school, Miss M. .Watts to be the teacher. Anikawa—The aided school was granted a wall. map. Havelock — The Committed complained that Mr Ward had not resigned, and of the waste of time in the matter. —On the Executive's recommendation, it was resolved that Mr Ward be given three months' leave of absence from April Ist, subject to bin resignation being received, to take ieffecfc on June 30th. Ronwiclv—iMiss Janet Waters was appointed as temporary assistant teacher, pending the calling of applications. Saratoga Bay—The appointment ol Mr Seymour" as teacher was apPlSpringlands—The Committee forwarded the applications of Misses E. Hilliard and B. Tindill for the position temporarily vacated by Miss Millington, and recommended that Miss lii. Hilliard be appointed.—Approved. The services of Miss Crombie were retained in the position of pupil teacher, which she had resigned, she having made such a request. . Stephen's Island—Miss Saunders s appointment as teacher was approved. Te Awaite —The correspondent wrote stating that £200 would Oe necessary for the erection of a new school.—Resolved that £150 is sufficient. Tua Marina—The teacher requested that £10, the amount received for the old house, be granted to him.—-Re-solved to apply to the Department for
