DRY RIVER SALE.
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report having held a very successful sale or Dry River stock at the homestead Martinbourgh, on the Ist and 2nd instant, when over 20,000 sheep, 1350 cattle, 60 horses, farm implements, etc., were submitted without reserve. Mr Pilmor wielded the hammer. There was a very large attendance of buyers from all parts of the distiict, arid from West Coast and Marlborough. The stock was yarded in excellent condition, and all the lines offered sold at very satisfactory prices under the hammer. We obtained the record price of 19s 3d for a line of twotooth ewes. Prices realised were:—
■ Sheep—Ewes: Two-tooth, 13s 4d to 19s 3d; 4-tooth, 18s to 18s 6d; 6-tooth, 17s Id; f.f.m., 15s 7d; f.m., 11s 6d to 13s 9d; culls, 8s lid. Wethers: Ciossbreds, fat, 16s 7d; store, 15s 3d; halfbreds, fat, 15s 8d; store, 14s Id. Lambs: Woolly, 7s 5d to 10s 2d;shorn, 6s lOd to 9s 7d; culls, 4s lid. Rams: Southdown, 3}gs; Lincolns, Hgn; Romneys, $gn. Cattle—Fat and forward bullocks, £7 2s 6d; 2£-year steers, £4 2s 6d to £4 12s 6d; 18-months steers, 53s to 60s; cows and calves, 80s to 925; cows, 905.; 2£-jrear heifers, 745; 18-months heifers, 36s to 435; weaners, 31s; bulls, 4sgs to 15igs. Horses—Draught, £35 to £56; light £7 10s to £20.
Farm implements, machinery, etc., realised excellent figures.
