THE LABOR PARTY AT HOME.

AN'ADDRESS TO THEIR COLONIAL BRETHREN.

PROPOSED VISIT OF DELEGATES

[press association.] (Received March 9, 9.52 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 9. Mr Watson has received a letter

from Mr Ramsay Mac Donald, Secretary of the British Labor Representation Committee.

After reference to the overwhelming, successes of Labor at the elections, Mi- Ramsay says:—" We are now anxious'to meet our colonial friends with a view to coming to an. understanding Avith the democratic and labor forces in the Empire, as we consider this to be the next step which labor movements at Home and in the calonies should take." The letter gives an assurance on behalf of the Labor Party that, " i€ has no intention of interfering with your fiscal policy."""1 It recognises that " this is a matter for yourselves, and yourselves alone, nor does it wish to interfere with any question which is in- . ternal to your colony only. We have four main objects in view: To rescue the Empire and the Imperial spirit from being exploited by reactionary i and anti-social classes at Home; to make the Empire stand for peace and democratic justice in the eyes of the whole world; to study the various social experiments, which have been started in the colonies; to get our colonial fellow workers to understand the labor movement of the Mother Country and feel a share in its fortunes."

The letter adds: "It is probable that three or four labor members will visit the colonies this year after the Parliamentary session is over. During the visit they will be willing to address one or two meetings in a few of the principal towns; and will be glad to meet delegates elected by the chief trades and labor organisations ,to.confer with them on matters bf common interest." It asks if the visit, supposing it can be arranged, would be acceptable, and that some representative body officially make arrangements for receiving the visitors.
