CHRISTCHURCH RAM AND EWE FAIR.

The annual Ram and Ewe Fair under the auspices of the Canterbury A. and P. Association commenced at the Show Grounds, Addington, to-day, when there was a very good attendance. The flock rams, taking them all round, were below the quality ( of other years. The season has, of course, not been a favorable one, and many of the sheep were lacking in condition, but there was also a considerable proportion in some of the breeds, notably Shropshires and English Leicesters, of very inferior description. Good Border Leicesters sold fairly weu, though there was not the same run'on them as last year. Single rams sold at 5 guineas to 10 guineas, the highest price being obtained by Mr Donald Grant, of Temuka. Lots of five and over were taken at 2 guineas to 4£ guineas. There were, only a fe.w- pens of Lincolns entered,and a limited number were sold at 2£ to 2i| guineas. English Leicesters proved a popular breed in the Fair. Single ranis sold at 6 guineas to 15| guineas, and pens at 2£ guineas, to 5$ guineas. The sale of D<mn.& went on at the same time as Lo»gwo.ols> and both Shropshire^ §nd Southdowns met with a dull g«te, For single Shropshire rains from 6 guineas to 15 guineas was paid, but the bulk changed hands at under 3 guineas. A large proportion were passed in. Single Southdown rams made 6 gujn.e#s to 7 guineas, and lots 2, guineas to 4£ guineas. There, w-aa a very cood '"demand i&V <oQrHedale and half-bred ranis, the. former selling at 3 guineas to 5j guineas, and the latter at 4 guineas.
