LOCAL AND GENERAL NEWS.

The Garrison Band will render a programme of music from the Seymour Square Rotunda on Thursday evening. The programme will appear in to-morrow's issue.

The s.s. Pateena, which left Picton last night for Nelson, put into Wellington this morning with her machinery disabled. She will therefore not be leaving for Wellington this afternoon, as previously announced. The Arahura will leave Picton on arrival of the 4 p.m. train to-morrow afternoon.

On Sunday next the cadets of Okaramio, Canvastown, and Havelock attend church parade at St. Peter's, Havelock, at 3 p.m., and preparations are in hand for holding a special service appropriate to the occasion. The number of cadets attending will, it is anticipated, exceed fifty, and will be under the command of Captain Cartwright of Okaramio.

The first season of the Blenheim Choral Society concluded with a wellattended arid enjoyable rehearsal last evening. It was resolved that the summer vacation be taken forthwith, and that the first annual meeting be held in the last week in March next, the idea being to re-commence practices on the first Monday in April, a cantata to be selected in the meantime. Hearty votes of thanks to Mr Cheek, the conductor, and Miss Turner, pianiste, were carried by acclamation at the conclusion of the rehearsal.

However, don't fail to read it. Just a little on your left. Anstice and Co., late Warnock and Adkin. *

One of the most useful things about a farm is a Daisy Road Cart; price, £13 10s.—Morrow Bassett and Co., Christchurch. *
