Bank of England returns are: —Gold coin and bullion, £30,812,000; reserve £22,410,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 41.93; in circulation, £28,586,000; public deposits, £12,----650,000; other deposits, £40,681,000; Government securities, £17,039,000; other securities, £31,772,000; • three months' bills, 4 per cent. Consols, 88£; stocks unchanged. Wheat —Continental markets, good demand; English, dull and weakening, owing to heavy shipments from Russia and good crop reports from Australia and Argentine. Cargoes are neglected. The January shipment was offered at 33s to 33s 6d, buyers not.responding. New Zealand spot is scarce; long-berried, 30s 6d to 31s 6d; shortberried, 30s to 31s. Flour—Firm; Australian supplies small, prices unchanged; freights quiet; Victorian steamer chartered 25s 9d. Butter —Firm; Danish unchanged; choicest Australian 110s to 112s; few lots 114s; New Zealand, 112s to 114s; better demand for secondaries, which are improving in quality. Copper—Spot £75 15s; three months £72 10s. Tin—Spot £152 7s 6d; three months £151 15s.
