AGCIDENT TO A BRAKE PARTY

[press association.]

INGLEWOOD, Oct. 19. As a five-horse brake ,_ with nineteen passengers, was returning from Miss Jessie McLachlan's concert at New Plymouth, coming down a nasty hill, the driver, fearing the incapacity of the brake to hold back the load, drove into the water table, and was unable to leave it. At the end of the cutting, reaching the embankment, the ground gave way, and the dray overturned. Two lady passengers were shot through the roof and fell clear. The driver s shoulder was dislocated. Two passengers were badly and two slightly hurt. The others were only shaken. The brake was badly smashed, but the horses were unhurt.
