Mr Herbert Price, of the Rai, who last week sustained a severe cut to the hand whilst bnshfeliing, is at present in Blenheim for surgical treatment.

Another accident, the res nit of a slip of an axe in bushfelling, occurred in the Pelorus on Monday. The victim was taken to the Picton Hospital, which be reached about five, after eight and a half hours' travel. He was fairly exhausted on arrival. At a meeting of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at. Ohristchurch, the inspector reported a caae of horrible cruelty. A youth had placed a cat in a box covered with wire netting and had speared the animal several times with the sharp end of a file. The cat's screams brought several neighbors to the spot, and in the excitemeat the cat escaped, and was not discovered till two days afterwards, when it was found to be suffering terrible wounds. The inspector stated that an information had been laid against the offender.

A wedding that created considerable interest was solemnised by the vicar, ab St. Peter's Havelock, on Wednesday lasfc, when Miss Clara Borek, youngest daughter of Mr L. Borcfr;. Maori Bay, Pelorus Sound, espoused Mr .Arthur Herd, youngest son of the late Mr David Herd, New Renwick Road, Blenheim. The bride, who was given away by bar father, was attired in a bridal costume of white silk trimmed with silk insertion and chiffon, and wore a veil and spray or orange blossom. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Mary iSoper, her niece, and Miss Margaret Jane Murdoch, niece of tho bridegroom, who wore dreases of white nuns' veiling with aashes of blue silk, and picture hats of white fancy straw trimmed with chiffon, Mr John Herd suppurted tlte bridegroom. After the ceremony the wedding party and a large number of gnests were entertained by the bride's parents at the Maaoric Hotel, where an elaborate and tasteful afternoon tea •had been prepared by Mr and Mrs W. Pickering, and at which tho felicity of Mr. and Mrs Herd wa3 proposed by the vicsr and responded to by the brldogroota, The cewly-wsddod pair left for thoir home on tho New Rcnwiok Road, amongst (;h« • cheers of their friends and wall-wishers.
