MORE OR LESS PERSONAL.

Mr George Scale, formerly engineer of the freezing hulk Prince of Wales in Picton, is visiting Marlborough. Since being from Picton, Mr Scale has spent several years in Western Australia. Mr C. M. Threlkeld, the well-known sheep-breeder, has gone to the Commonwealth on a visit to the Royal Agricultural Shows of Victoria and South Australia. He will take with him a team of the Inglewood English Leicester sheep for exhibition. This breed is now receiving much attention throughout Australia. Miss Jano Morgan, a young society lady., of Philadeplnia, has just secured a certificate of master mariner, and recently, in fulfilment of a long cherished ambition, she sailed to Norway in full charge of her father's yacht Waturas. From Norway the Waturas proceeds to the Isle of Wight. It was stated in a court case at Wellington that the late John Plimmer, of Wellington, died worth, roughly, £35,000, and, but for the fact that he had parted with a considerable'portion of his property, he would probably have left something between £50,000 and £100,000. Mr Francis Trask, M.L.C., of Nelson, had a very unpleasant experience on- Saturday morning. On Friday evening he partook of salt herrings for tea, and suffered no ill effects until early on Saturday morning, when he was taken violently ill. Dr Hudson^ was called in, and found Mr Trask! was suffering from the effects of fish! poisoning. Though considerably im-; proved, Mr Trask's condition on Monday evening was sufficiently serious to X^revent his intended return to Wellington.

Mr J. Gallop, who has been transferee! from the local branch of the Telegraph Department to Christchurch, was the recipient of some tokens of godwill from his fellow employees and members of the Waipuna Football Club. Messrs Jennings and Connolly, on behalf of the Department, made the presentation, which took the form of a Russian leather pocket book ; and Mr Wakelin, on behalf of the footbell club, presented him with a silver medal suitably inscribed. ':Trot J) was a prominent footballer, and was one of those who represented Marlborough against Nelson in the junior contest on Saturday last. In cricket also his services will be missed.
