SCHOOL TRUSTS COMMISSION: WHAKAREWAREWA (Motueka) TRUST. |"N order to relieve tbe Maoris resi_J_ dent at or near Spring Creek who may desire to appear before the Royal Commission appointed to enquire into various School Trusts from the necessity of travelling to Nelson, and at their express request, the Commission will, imm diately after the conclusion of its sitting in Nelson province, proceed to Blenheim, and there hold a sitting. As the Commission is compelled to nsa the utmost expedition there can be no loss ot time in giving other than the shortest notice possible of the sitting at Blenheim. Those who desire to appear before the Compuasion at Blenheim shonW, therefore, watch for a notice in the Marlborough Ex press newspaper stating when the Commission will sit at Blenheim, which t will probably *c on the morning after the day on which tho notice appears. WALTER LESLIE, Secretary to the Commission, TO THE BURGESSES OF THE BOROUGH OF BLENHEIM. T ADIES & GENTLEMEN,— At the request of a large number of you, I have consented to become a candidate for the vacant scat on the Council. I have on other occasions had the honor of representing you, and believe that I have generally performed my duties as a Councillor to your satisfaction. lamto be opposed at this election by Mr John Brown, a gentlemen for whom I have the greatest respect, and who is, I am informed, only opposing mo because it is thonght I am seeking election for the sole purpose of trying to force the Council to erect the new Town Hall on the site adjoining Seymour Squave. Such, I assure you, is not my object, but if elected I do intend to ask the Council to give effect to the unanimous resolution of the ratepayers passed at the recent statutory meeting, and allow them an opportunity of choosing th»t site if they desire to do so. If all the three suggested sites are offered to their choice, and a majority then chooses the one opposite Mr Carr's premises, I am quite content that the majority shall rnle; but I consider that before fixing on any site the Council is in justice bound to let the ratepayers express their wishes in accordance with the resolution above referred to. In all other matters affecting your interests, as in this one, I intend to act fairly, and i? elected shall always endeavor to do my utmost for the welfare of the town as a whole, and not only for that of any particular street or locality. Yours faithfnlly, JOHN CONOLLY. J. H.
