Mr \Dinnie, Police Commissioner, arrived in Blenheim last evening from Nelson. He is accompanied by Mrs Dionie.
Lady Janefc Clarke, of Melbourne, is on a visit to the colony, and has just concluded a tour of the Southern Lakes district.
Mr Leslie H. Reynolds, the wellknown engineer, was on a visit to Blenheim to-day. Mr Keynolds is engaged to make an inspection of the Pic ton water supply.
Miss Maud Beatty was taken suddenly ill while appearing with tbo Richards Compmy at Ilobart. She had to undergo an operation for apperdicitis, and is now convalescent.
Mr John Tinline, of Nelson, arrived in Blenheim last evening, having journeyed by the coach from Nelson. Be i 3 travelling with Mr Murray, o£ Adelaide.
Mr M. Murphy, well-known in con* uection with the Canterbury Agricul* tural Association, underwent a serious operation at Christchurch yesterday, but is progressing favourably.

During a recent morning Queen Alexandra and Queen Amelia (Portugal), both dressed quietly in grey, walked out into the town of Windsor to do some shopping. Alrbough their Majesties were generally recognised, thsre was no impertinent curiosl ty 9 and the rojal ladies were able to inspect the town, the decorations, and make their purrcha^g as they pleased.
The trieuds of Mr W. Price, ohaitman of the Havelock Town Board, who underwent a minor operation at a private hospital in Blenheim on Thursday last, will be glad to hear that he is progreasing satisfactorily; It was expected he would be able to leave his bed to-day (Tuesday), and, progress continuing, his return to Havelock is expected during the early part of next week.
In a letter just received, Bishop Jnlius states that he has been urged by bis medical advisers to spend some time in Rome, so as to have occupation for the mind without the strain of work. He and Mrs Julius had accordingly arranged to go to Rome in the early part of January, and to stay in that interesting city for about five weeks. He intended to start for New Zealand at the end of March or beginning of April.
