Fierce fighting for twenty-five minutes preceded the abandonment of Antung.
Fugitives who have reached Chefoo report that the Russians are preparing to evacuate Dalny.
General Kuropatkin, in a despatch to the Tsar, expresses satisfaction that the Japanese crossed the Yalu River, thus lengthening their lines of com* munication while the Russians are nearer their base.
A member of the Russian General Staff states that the Yalu engagements were merely skirmishes, and that General Kuropatkin will not accept a serious battle until the middle of May, when he will have half a million men at his disposal.
