News lias been privately received in town of a sensational occurrence at Dannovirke this afternoon, A railway engine-driver named McCluskie attempted to shoot his daughter and afterwards to commit suicide. Ho used a revolver, and the girl, immediately on seeing this presented at her, covered her face with her hands. The bullet passed between her fingers and struck her head, traversing the skull Cor about 31 inches, and then glanced off without inflicting any serious injuryTho man then turned the rovolver on himself and tirod, the bullet striking his forehead, but failing to penetrate the bono, McOluskie has been arrested and placed under medical care.
