Palmerston N., July 30.
The rough weather cleared up somewhat last night and this morning was clear, but exceptionally cold. There was a small attendance at the show owing to stock sales. The takings at the show already exceed the estimate, and there will not be a deficit as anticipated. The winter shows here are assured as a future annual fixture.
The Minister of Lan Js arrived this morning to take part in to-night's dinner, which will have a large and representative attendance. The show closes to-morrow.
The Dairy Show Conference resumed this morning.
Mr Gilruth read a valuable treatise on the value of scientific research for farmers, giving a- review of his ten years as Government Bacteriologist. Many questions were afterwards asked and answered, and a hearty vote of thanks passed. Other papers of a technical nature were read. The conference closed this afternoon.
