London, July 15.
Sir John Cookburn, ex-Agent-General for South Australia, in a letter to The Times, replying to Sir William Harcourt, asserts that the colonies have discarded the false lights of doctrinaires and reverted to common-sense empiri cism and a power of adaptation to oironmstances by which they may and can alone maintain the Empire.
