THE SHOP HOURS BILL.
Prew -Association. Elec*** Telegraph. Copyright. i New Plymouth, July 16. The Tradesmen's Association held a largely attended meeting to consider tb^ Shop Hours' Bill. The following; resolutions were carried unanimously : That clause 3, relating to a Saturday half holiday, be opposed, and the law as present supported; that areas be enlarged to era brace each province and secure uniformity in the day for the half holiday, and that a provincial conference be arranged for the purpose; tha* the clause relating to stocktaking or other special work in shops, and extra payment, be opposed as contrary to the interest of employers and employees ; that the clause re closing chemists be excised; that in the clause re public holidays*, Boxing Day bo substituted for Labor Day, and any special holiday proclaimed bj the Government or mayors be not compulsory It was also resolved, that the Association notes with alarm the present law which enables debtors to evade payment of debts though in a position to pay, and urges an amendment provid ing for the recovery of debts through a Court. ,
