To night the Company will produce for the first time in Blenheim the new, musical comedy f San Toy/.' which has recently been played with, great sue. cess in Mslbourne and Sydney, also in Auckland, Wellington, Ohristohurch and Dunedin, and other towns throughout New Zealand. The plot Is a simple one: San Toy, the heroine, is the daughter of the mandarin of Pynka Pong, by name Yen How, and the fame of her beauty having spread to Pekin,. the seat of the Imperial Court, her attendance before the Emperor is commanded. In order to circumvent this, Yen How informs the Emperor that his child is a boy and not a girl, and^she therefore appears about Pynka Pong in boy's clothes. The machinations of a Chinese student who loves San Toy" result in the disclosure of Ken How's little trick, and San Toy has to go to Pekin, whither she is followed by her English love, Captain Bobby Preston. In the second act San Toy is seen at the Provincial Palace, Pekin, as first among the Emperor's many wives, and many humorous incidents take place before the Emperor appears and beneficently hands San Toy over to the gallant captain.
