In this, his last season on the turf, he had been in the stud at the service of the public for two seasons, thus showing his stamina and racing capability. RORE : TO STAND THIS SEASON AT BLENHEIM AND SURROUNDING DISTRICTS. The Well-known Clydesdale Stallion DUKE OF MARLBOROUGH. FTI HIS Horse comes from the coleI brated Longbeach Estate, where Mr J. C. N. Grigg has earned, fame throughput New Zealand for his Clydesdales. Duke of Marlboroitgh is a bay with black points, showing great quality and power. He is by Workman from blaze, by Sir Colin Campbell (imp.) from Bloss, by Young Prince of Wales (top-) ; Workman is by Lord Dunmore (imp.) from Annie (598), by Kilbowie (73, imp) from Jeanie Deans. (263), by Pride of Scotland (602 in; Highland Stud Book, imp.), from Maggie Craig ' (262), imported from Scotland by the late Mr Watts, who was.offered 400 sovereigns for her when landed in New Zealand. Sir Colin Campbell, imported from Scotland, is sire of many of the best stallions and mares in Ofcago, and grandsire to that celebrated stallion DickSeddon. It is thus seen that on breeding lines Duke of Marlborougb; is the best horse ever imported into Marlborough, and his appearanoe speaks for itself. Duke of Marlborough took first prize at Christchurch as a two yearold, beating Dick Seddon and others, and second at Ash burton, where Dick Seddon secured first honors ; and as a thre9 year old he took first prize in the three-year-old stallion class at Blenheim, second in the open Clydesdale class, and second for the best draught stallion best adapted for breeding plough horses.
