The Rev. 11. S. Gray, minister of the Nelson Baptist Cnui-ch for the last six years, has accepted a call to the Oxford Street Baptist Church, Christchurch, and leaves for bis new sphere of work in three months. A strong effort was made by fhc local congregation to retain Rev. Gray, but he felt a wider sphere of usefulness called him away. He has als«» been a member of the Nelson City Council.

The Harbor Board have just accepted tenders for works in connection with the harbor improvement scheme, covering £4600, fully half of which will be spent locally.

This is in addition to dredge contract for £13,000, the first progress payment towards which was made on Saturday— namely, £900.
