A cable received by the Governor states that the Britannic sailed from South Africa for Albany, Melbourne and Wellington on July 6th with over 450 members of the Eight Contingent, 84 members of the Tenth, and a few of of the Ninth. Lieut.-Col Chaytor, Capt. Poison, and Lieufc. Kelsall are among the number.

News reached Havelock yesterday, says Tuesday's Guardian, that the schooner Annie Hill, timber laden to Lyttelton, lost three men overboard during the south-east gale on Saturday. The deck cargo was also washed overboard. [The Annie Hill is a schooner cf 121 tons register, owned by Cook Bros., of Lyttelton, and her captain is Captain Gilbert Brown, of Lyttelton. She was on her way from Grey mouth to Lyttelton when the fatality occurred.]
