As tl c steamer Waikare was leaving for Wellington on Saturday night a serious disturbance was caused by firemen, who defied the officers. Two of the ringleaders were arrested. Mahterton, June 30.

At a meeting of the Masterton branch of the Farmers' Union reference w.is made to the retirement of Mr Gl.t>s, founder of the organisation, [t was resolved that his services should be retained in the interests of the Union, and the President gave notice to move that it be a recommendation to all branches that a levy of sixpence per member be made, so that the Union may adequately recognise Mr Glass's services.

Tue Court of Appeal was opened today. The following cases were added to the list: —Boulton v. Pearce, three cases from Gisborne against tho Assets Company, Dillon v. Macdonald, and Kelly and others v. Bentinck. The cises of Livingstone v. Livingstone, and in re Coll, deceased, were removed from the list, the first named having been settled, and there being a probability of settlement of others.
