ELECTRIC TRAMWAYS.

Press Association. Electric Telegraph.

Copyright.

Auckland, June 27.

The Mayor and Councillors, after a personal inspection of Symouds Street —main road leading out of the city— casno to the conclusion that the double lined for the electric trams there have left insufficient roadway for the requirements of the ordinary traffic, and hare decided to recommend the City Council to take four feet off each footpath. The footpath in Beach Road is now being narrowed for a similar rea son, and. probably similar action will be found imperative elsewhere. This is largely owing to centre poles being used for the electric trams, which prac bicdlly confines the middle of the street to the use of the trams.
