Bishop Cowie died this morning. [The Right Roy. Wffl. Garden Cowie, D.D., Bishop of Auckland, (and until recently Primate of New Zealand,) the second son of Alexander Cowte, ot Auehverless, Aberdeenshire, was born in London in 1831, and educated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. In 1804 he was cum te of St. Clements, Cambridge, and was chaplain to Lord Clyde's Army at Lucknowin 1858, and to Sir Neville Chamberlain's column against the Afghans in 18634. He held the medal and clasps for Luckuow, and for the frontier campaign of 1863. In 1863 he was appointed chaplain to the Vice roy of India, and in 1864 to the Bishop of Calcutta. In 1860 he was chaplain of Cashmere, and in 1867 was appointed Rector of Stafford. In 1869 he was consecrated Bishop of Auckland in Westminster. A few years age he became Primate of New Zealand, a position he resigned only a week or so ago owing to ill-health.]
