SEAMEN'S WAGES.

Received June 24, 10 p.m. Sydney, June 24.

An Interstate Conference of steamship owners and Seamen's Unions resulted in an agreement whereby the present rates of pay remain in force till the end of January next. The owners hold that trade has not improved since the last conference and wages should be reduced, but agreed not to insist on a reduction. They hope that with a final settlement of the tariff trade will return to its normal condition. Seamen agree that if there is no improvement when the agreement ends to accept a reduction of at least ten shillings per month without further question.
