FLOODS IN NELSON DISTRICT. Press Association. Electric Telegraph, Qopyright. \ Nelson, June 24. Heavy rain has been almost continuous for a week, the city record being 2*14. The rivers are in flood, and in some places have overflowed, but no damage is reported except at Takaka, where the township was 2)ractically under water for twelve hours. Communication is cut off from the surrounding district, where considerable injury and loss of stock is feared on low-lying lands. At 3 o'clock this morning when the flood was at its height eighteen inches to two or three feet of water was rushing down the main street, carrying with it everything movable, including a stack of timber from a new hotel. In the Builer district mail coaches aro considerably interfered with. There is a slight break in the weathis morning, but is clouding up again, Timaru, June 24. Heavy rain is now falling, and the prospects for the holiday are very bad.
