THE ARMY MEAT CONTRACT.

London, February 15.
Although a revision of the meat contracts is considered impracticable, all the Agents-General, except the AgentGeneral for Western Australia, asked the War Office if it is not possible to limit the contract to colonial meat by keeping a sharp lookout on the source of origin of all supplies, furnishing monthly statements and promptly informing the colonies if it is alleged that Australasian supplies are insuffi-
cient.
The War Office's departmental officers express an extreme desire that Australasia should obtain the bulk of the supplies and promise a stringent inspection. They have asked the Agents-General to furnish their requests in writing.
