An old lady named Mrs Newali, 67 years of age, was found dead at the bottom of a oliff on the Waiwalsahi River this morning, about a tnile and a half from town. Deceased had been missing since Wednesday, but, as she-.., was eccentric and given to wandering ""*- ---about, no anxiety was felt for a day or two, the family thinking she might have gone to friends. Two sons found her to-day. She had evidently fallen over the cliff, which was about 40 feet high, and must have been there since Wednesday night or Thursday, as the body was partly decomposed. Chbistchchch, February 15. This morning an elderly man named James Cooksley, a contractor residing at Opawa, was fonnd dead in the Heathcote River, near the Opawa bridge. , He left town late last night to return home with a horse and trap. This morning the horse and trap were both found in the fiver close beside the body, but the horse had been taken out of the trap.
