A BIG ATTENDANCE.
THE AUSTRALIAN TEAM FOR
ENGLAND.

Forty-two thousand people witnessed the cricket yesterday, including Mr Spofforth. Last evening's rain was of short duration. No damage was done to the wicket, and to-day the weather is gloriously fine. The Australian team for England will consist of fourteen men. The lollowing nine are regarded as certainties :—Darling, Hill, Trurable, Noble, Orecory, Trumper, Dnff, Kelly and HowelL » A rumor conies from Adelaide that Major Markham will manage the team, with Mr Johns as assistant, who will act also as second wicket-keeper. In cricket circles the southern city as indignant. It holds that only a first .class wicket-keeper should go. Major Markham and Mr Jones dXniina'ti 9m at. nresent in Sydney.
