At tho Police Court, Jessica Neu jnegan Minns, who made such sensationnl statements in connection with the Grand Hotel fire, was charged with the murder of Leonora Johnstone and .others who. perished in the five. The courf house was thronged. After hearing the evidence of several witnesses, the Coroner was called Tor the prosecution, but on Mr Tole, who appeared for the prosecution, intimating his intention of handing in the depositions of the accused as evidence, Mr J. C. Martin, for the accused, objected" on the ground that tl.o statements were not voluntary, but had been extracted by means of' threats and for. c. Ultiinatcly<on the suggestion of the Bench, it was decided that authovities*should be produced bearing on the point and full argument hoard to-morrow morning. The Court then adjourned.
