A Maori named Tokomauri was charged at the Court to day with having pretended to exercise witchcraft.
The evidence showed that accused asserted his taipos had possessed a child of a native named Hawera, and he refused to remove it till they had complied with the mysterious " thirty-
seven sevens."
It was stated in evidence that ac ■ eused was a well known tohnnga, having been engaged in tho work for three years. The case is proceeding.
