COLONIAL ARRANGEMENTS.
DujVEWn,- April 17. A letter was received l>y the Mayor from the Governor to-day suggesting a route for the Duke and Duehess°of Cornwall—namely, from the railway station by way of Stuart Street to Fernhill Club. As this is evidently intended for the day of arrival of the Royal party, the Mayor m»11 wait on the Governor on his arrival and submit a proposed route for the procession on the day following, to avoid going through the same streets twice. It is now suggested that the party.drive round the Queen's Drive in the Town Belt, and enter the city at Pitt Street above Knox Church, the route in the city being from that point to Femhili Club, with a stoppage at the Town Hall for presentation of an'address.
The children's demonstration in connection with the Royal visit will take place between 2 and 4 p.m. on 26th June, on the Caledonian grounds, and Southland children are expected to participate. The Railway Department will bring- the children into town at picnic excursion rates.
It is reported in Wellington that Queen Makea and some other notable native personages of the Cook Group are to be, invited to come to New Zealand to take part in the reception of the Duke and Duchess of York.
