Hokumka, April 15. A old miner named Lazzaro Morazzi was killed in a claim in Duffer's Creek on Friday, a fall of earth completely burying him. He was not found till next day.
Napier, April 10. The police received information today that Mrs Eliza Moon was burnt to death at Tauranga early this morning, through her house being destroyed by, lire. Deceased was 90 years of age.
Later
Particulars Qf the fire that caused the death of Mrs Moon, show that deceased lived at Gate Pa, three miles from Tauranga. When the fire was discovered the .cottage was ablaze, and it was impossible for anyone to enter. Her son, Frederick, who usually lived with his mother was away from home and no one was in the house with her.
After the destruction of the house the remains were discovered half way between where the bed stood and the front door. Deceased was 95 years of age, and had resided there for 40 years.
