In the Mile Amateur Swimming Championship of New South Wales G. Read beat Dick Cavill by threequarters of a lap in 24min 46 4-sth sec, constituting a world's record. Cavill took 25min 12 4 sfch sec, beating his previous Australasian record of 2Gmin 52 l-sth see.
