In. the House of Commons,, Lord Cranborne (Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs) stated that Mr McCleavy Brown, Commissioner of Cv toms in Korea, had not been dismissed. A settlement with regard to the matter was probable.
In the House of Lords, Lord Lamv downe, Foreign Minister, stated that the Anglo-German agreement applied to all of China, including Manchuria, Britain, said his Lordship, \vas ; indisposed to earpingly criticise -Russian arrangements which would temporarily protect her interests. The Manchuria published versions of the Convention appeared to infringe Britislv rights there and elsewhere.; wiser Russia published the test of the Convention, dissipating suspicions. Meanwhile Great Britain and Germany had, said Lord Lansdowhej advised- CKma to refrain from private separate agreements. : - .'■■■' V '
