. ; +r The monthly meeting of the Land Board was held yesterday. Present : The Commissioner of Grown Lands, Meesrs Bedwood, Seymour, Taylor, and Mills. Mr Mills was granted leave of absence daring the coming session. . The following applications were submitted for approval :— No. 2851 — H. Cozens, Section 9, Block iv., Onamahilu (O.R.P.j ; No. 2882-E. H. Bogerson, Section 12, Block xn., Clifford Bay (L.I.P. under Lands for Settlement Act).— Resolved that the Board recommend the Government thai Mrs Rogerson be allowed a rebate on her rent exceeding anything she has paid over 3s 4d per acre from the time the section was first leased to her. M. Rickertson applied to have Pastoral Run No. 85 offered as a email grazing run when the present lease has expired.— Surveyor's report to be obtained. M. Rickertson also applied to have Section 82, Block xi., Onamalutu x granted to him, without competiiion, on lease m perpetuity.— -Referred to Surveyor for report. C. Botham applied to purchase a piece of land adjoining Section 40, Cloudy Bay district.— Granted under Bection 115 of Land Act, 1892, subject to the Governor's approval; survey fee to be deposited, and section to be assessed. H. Cozens wrote with reference to W. Nesbitfc's application to take up 1000 acres of Pastoral Run No. 57 as a small grazing run.— Surveyor's report to be obtained as to advisability of cutting up the land into two email grazing runs. H. Hodgson applied under Section 115, Land Act, 1892, for a lease m perpetuity over Section 18, Block vm., Onamalutu, and that the same be granted without competition.-— Application granted under Section 115 of Land Act, 1892, subject to approval of the Governor; survey fee to be deposited, and section to be valued at 8s 4d per acre. The Crown Lands Ranger valued the improvements on Pickeregill Island, Karira Watson wishing to exchange pastoral license to lease m perpetuity.— Valuation approved ; and resolved not to exchange to lease m petpetuity ; previous resolution to bold good (That run.be put up for 10 years at upset rental of £2 per annum). G. A. Butland applied for a lease of the Village Reserve near the junction of the Wakamarina and Pelorus river?, m order to secure a homestead site; area, 64 acres. — Besolved to offer this reserve for 14 years at upset rental of £12 per annum, subject to approval of the Governor. W. L. Clifford wrote with reference to proposed accommodation - house reserves between Starborough and the dlarence. E. S. Rutherford also wrote re the same subject.— Resolved to write to Mr Clifford and ask him at what price he will sell two blocks of 50 aores each for accommedationhouse reserves. Jas. Johnson wrote with reference to exchange of the reserve at Clarence River. — Letter received. Be Crown Lands m Waitaria Bay : Besolved that a sketch survey of Available land for settlement m Waitaria Bay be obtained. D. Henderson requested that price cf Section 18, Block i , Gore district, be reduced. — Resolved to reduce the lend to 7s 6a per acre. The Eanger forwarded his valuation of improvements effected on Section, 1 Block x i., 17 Block xrv., and 7 and 8 Block xn., Clifford Bay district (Blind Eiver Estate.) Valuation approved. Mrs McPhillips applied for a temporary grazing license over Section, 6 Block xiv., Clifford Bay. Resolved that the Board cannot see their way to grant this application, the new road which baa been taken will henceforth be Mr Chapman's section boundary. Mr Chapman applied for lease of part of Plantation Reserve. Resolved to grant a lease of part of the reserve fronting Mr Chapman's section from Ist July 1900 from year to year at the pleasure of the Board. Mrs Barnes wrote asking that an arbitrator be appointed to settle the question of compensation for road taken throught her section. Resolved that Mr Buckhurst be appointed an arbitrator for the Government. The Stock Inspector wrote urging Mr Jermyn's application for compensation for loss, of sheep through poison. Resolved that copies of correspondence be forwarded to the Surveyor General and that the Board recommend that compensation be given him. Mr Moore appeared before the Board and requested tbat the signing of bis son's lease be deferred for tbe present as his son was m the Trans--vaal. Request granted. R. Trueman wrote asking that the rent of Sections, 18 and 14, Block xii., Clifford Bay, be reduced. Resolved that the Board regret they connofc see their way clear to reduce the rent. The District Surveyor, Kaikoura, reported on a resolution passed by the Kaikoura Settlers' Association re cutting up the "Waipapa Run. — Letter received. Mortgage under the Government Advances to Settlers Act was sanctioned. Mrs M. Smith applied to transfer her interest m Sections 8 and Ba, Block xvi., Kaikoura, to F. J. Monk. — Granted subject to all necessary conditions being fulfilled. A transfer from F. J. Monk to Mrs Smith was also granted. John Campbell wrote stating his reasons for non-residence on his Section 706, Block — , Mfc. Fyffe.— Exemption allowed. J. Storey asks that part of Run 87 (500 acres) be made a Bush Reserve. — Granted subject to surveyor's report being favorable. Assessments Spey Block were ap< proved as follows -.—Section 1, Blocks ix, xn and xm, Hundalee, 1816 acres, at 255 ; Section 2, Block xn, Hundalee, 914 acres, at 255; Section 3, Blocks xn and xni, Hundalee, 777 acres, at 80s ; Section 4, Block xm, I Hundalee, 1179 acres, at 17s 6d ; Section 5, Blocks xn and xvr, Hundalee, 898 acres, at 27s 6d ; Section 6, Blocks xiii and xvi, Hnndalee, 1487 acres, at 27s 6d ; Small Grazing Run, 156, Hundalee, 2886 acres, at i22g 6d; Small Grazing Run, 157, Hundalee, 2846 acres, at 17s 6d. The above valuation includes 25 per cent, loading for roads under the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act. David Wells wrote re Nydia BayHavelock road.— Resolved that the agreement to convey 50 acres of land to Mr Wells be recommended to the Government.
