MEETING AT PICTON.
A meeting of the Fictcn Peaoa Celebration Committee was hi Id las* evening at tfce Foresters' Ball, The different subcommittess reported progress. The Secretary stated that no reply had been received from the Kibern an Band as to terms. A committee of ladies was appointed to manage the children's fete. A case of fireworks, to oost £12, wa<* ordered, and the Carnival Ladies' Committee were given carte blanche m the matter of expenditure. This latter resolafcion evoked great ap» plause from the ladies present. Tbe Pio'on celebration bida fair to out-rival that of the Jubilee, j ldgicg by tbe manner m which people are taking it up.
