Allison presided, and there was a full attendance. The enquiry was adjoured on Saturday last to enable the 01 uh to get evidence bearing out Keith's statement that C. V. Major, of Hawera, and G. K-.;j. of Manners Street, Wellington, bad put £30 on Pokomoko for him m Saturday's race. Telegrams read from Wellington, one from the Inspector of Police, stated that no such person as Kells was living m Manners Btreet. A man of that name went to the Transvaal with 'he contingent. Mr 0. B. Major wired that Keith had instructed him to put £5 on Pokomoko for Saturday's Hurdle Race, but he did not do so. Mr Wm. He thought his rider had a strong hold on the horse, so strong that he doubted whether he would get over the last hurdle. Pokomoko was well out on the course the whole ! way. F. Kind, rider of Pokomoko, m evidence, said be did not know Kells. He had seen the horse stop worse than he did at Devonport. He could not have ran second. He made every endeavor to sit down and ride his mount. From the second to the last fence he did not give the horse the whip because he would have stopped more. Stewards desired to recall the owner of Pokomoko, P. Keith ; but, although he was known to be m town, he could not be found. The Club's decision was that the horse Fokomoko. the jockey, and the owner b 6 disqualified for two years.
