Sunday night Major Charles Metoalfe, m command of 500 of tW Second Rifle Brigade, climbed Bai> prise Hill, near Ladysmith, without baiag discovered by the enemy, and evicted them from their position. Lieut, Digby Jones destroyed a 4*7 howitzer. The British, on retiring, bayoneted their way through the Boers, inflioting considerable losses. Twelve British were killed, and: 44 wounded; while 6 British entrusted with the care of the wounded were captured.
