MAJORITY OP THE BATTALIONS GONE. THE WIDOWS^TND ORPHANS' FUND. London, October 30. Twenty out of the thirty-two battalions of mobilised infantry have embarked for South Af rioa. Three hundred picked seamen have started from England to succeed the Naval Brigade, a strong detaohment of which was sent from Capetown the other day to protect the Oape frontier. A composite regiment of Household Cavalry, including a strong squadron of Life Guards and Horse Guards, have been ordered to South Africa. Four modern cruisers, fully equipped, have replaced the training jj^uadrott*
The Uuko of Oonnaught farewelled the First Battalion of the Rifle Brigade. The Mansion House Fund for the Transvaal widows and orphans, amounts to £50,000.
