SPRING CREEK ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above Board was held yesterday afternoon. Present— Messrs Redwood, Dodson, Murray, J. Gane, W. Gifford, and T. Gregory. Mr Redwood was unanimously elected Chairman for the ensuing year. Mr J. Nolan waited on the Board m regard to the drainage of his land. It was resolved that the Board carry out the works of deepening the ditch m the front of Mrs Shepherd's and lowering the pip© cutvert across the road, on condition that Mr Nolan keeps the same clean m future. It was decided to visit Mr J. Adams' property on Saturday week to investigate as to an outlet for the drainage of the land. Mr J. Sheary's resignation as slaughterhouse Inspector was received, and it was resolved that the Governor m Council be recommended to appoint Mr J, Fawcett ia his place. The names of Messrs J. Barr and G, Thomas were placed on the valuation roll m place of those of Mr F. Smith and Mrs Phillpotts respecth ely. At the request of the Omakaßoad Board it was resolved that section 1 19, Wairau West, be struck off the roll for rating purposes, it being now used for the purposes of a signal station. The sum of £1 5s was voted to Mr S, Wilkins to clean out the ditch below Mr Stagg's on the main road. It was resolved that a sum of 2s 6d per chain ba paid for cleaning about 10 chains of Hathaway'e Road ditch, the Board to be liable for any extra expense incurred, and Mr Dodson to keep the ditch clean m future. A letter was received from Mr John Moore, of the Stock and Agricultural Department, m reference to the small birds nuisance. It was resolved that Mr J. Gane be appointed a delegate to act m regard to the destruction of small birds, with instructions to call a meeting of farmers, as suggested by Mr Moore, if thought necessary, and with power to spend £10 on behalf of tho Board. Accounts were passed for payment and the meeting was adjourned.
