A REMARKABLE BRIDGE.
Some " consiilcrable distance" south of Auck land, and " quite a large number" of inilei north of Wellington stands a bridge. It it entitled to be culled a remarkable bridge. It is on the direct road to, and only a short distance from, Nyowhtrtinalikura. Wlieu it was discovered by a puty of natives, tl« leader of the party exclaimed, " Homaikaraiki!" And, after many years, it is still called by the natives " Waiapiti." And so it is a pil y ! No doubt a reason was given for its construction at the time, aud tli€ men who were instrumental m devoting public money to such works, would look well Ribbetted m chains on the same bridge, the only drawback being that no one would see them. The same amount of money, nay, half that sum invested m Vanity Fair Cigarettes, would bring happiness and enjoymeut to OHll adult male population, '
