THE MARKETS.
JOHN HOLMES' & GO'S WELLINGTON WEEKLY REPORT. Wool. — The various buyers m the local market are very keen and during the week we have had several enquiries for growing clips. Chaff. — There has been a further advance m this since last report, and with the southern freights equal to the freight from Blenheim of 7d per sack buyers have no alternative now. This will be pleasing, no doubt, to your farmers, who are now on the same footing m regard to chaff as the ' southern people. Potatoes. — There is no alteration to report m these. Oats. — We have an outlet for a small parcel of good feed oats. Flax. — The market for this has eased somewhat as present needs have been supplied, and there has been some big shipments sent to America during the week. Hides.— The market is not so firm as last week, we sold a parcel at prices quoted. Sheepskins. — These, m sympathy with the price of wool, have advanced, and for good skins, well saved and very prime, as high as 6d per lb has been got. Grain. — Market dull. Our quotations to-day are :— Chaff, 75s to 80s for prime oat-sheaf, medium 65s to 70s ; potatoes, 85s to 37s 6d ; barley, feed, 2s to 2s 3d ; hides, heavy ox well flayed 3fd, medium 3d, cow 2|d ; sheepskins, extra prime 6d, prime to good sd, good to fair 4f d, ! pelts 2|.
