FATAL ACCIDENT AT BUMGREE.

Aw accident of a shocking nature occurred at the Dumgree station, Awatere, yesterdaj', by which a young man named George Badd lost his life.^ Mr Pollard, manager of the station, informs Sergt. -Major Scanlan, by letter, that he last saw Badd, who waa employed on the station, about eight o'clock m the morning, and gave him directions as usual. He was engaged m working the oatcrushar when the accident happened, and was found hanging by the neck, quite dead, having fallen into or m some way got caught m the belt of the machine. He had many times done the work before and was quite familiar with all the operations. It appears that no one saw the accident, so that the manner m which poor Hadd met his fate is uncertain, It is supposed that he fell against the belt m climbing up to feed the machine. An inquest was to be held at Dumgree t j-day by Mr T. B.orton. Deceased was about 21 years of age and had been employed on the station about four years. He is a son of Mr and Mrs Badd, of Manse road; his family are naturally much grieved at his untimely and unfortunate death, and will have hearty sympathy m their bereavement. The young fellow was well known and liked m Blenheim, and deserved a better fate.
