AUCKLAND ITEMS.
[UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION ] Auckland, September 18. A petition is m circulation, whioh ' is to be presented to the Government, advocating a trial of Vaile's railway system. Over 1000 signatures were obtained during the day. At a meeting of the Committee of the Auckland Insurers' Protection Association, a proposal that the Insurers' Protection Associations throughout the colony should affiliate was deferred for further consideration. The Secretary reported a membership of over 100, representing risks amounting to nearly £2,000,000, and added that the finances were m a satisfactory state. At the Supreme Court, m the case against Edward Ilaylock Percy, charged with administering medicine to Margaret Fraser for the purpose of procuring abortion, a verdict of Not Guilty was returned.
