FEMALE CANDIDATES IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA. (united press association.) Adelaide, July 12. The Government has introduced a States Advances Bill, which is practically the same as last years measure. The Government geologist reports unfavorably on the petroleum discovery. The Engineers' Association has nominated Misses Hawkins and Prohan, the two nurses recently dismissed from the Adelaide Hospital, as candidates at the coming elections. Sydney, July 12. The Snow and Burgess has just arrived fiom Tacoma. The Oatterthun has arrived with season's tea. Melbourne, July 12. The steamer "YVarrigal, leaving for London to-morrow, takes 225 sheep and 20 head of cattle, which is the- first shipment of live stock from Victoria. The Tainan has arrived with a cargo of new season tea.
