MIDLAND RAILWAY FROSPECTS.

The following is the text of a minute' forwarded to the House of Representatives with His Excellency the Governor's message No. 3, dated 28th June, 1895, to be referred to Committee of Supply :— . That possession having been taken, m terme of the Railways Construction and land Act, 18^81, of the New Zealand Midland Railway, the Government be authorised, pending appropriation being made^on the Estimates, to expend a sum not exceeding five thousand pounds (S^OOO) m oxtending, clearing and formuig the section of the said rail way betWeen Jackson's and the Otira, and m con> pleting the formati'-n and of laying; the rails on the partially-completed portion of the said railway between Belgrove and Motupiko; such expenditure to be deemed to be part of the moneys appropriated out of the public works fund under the Imprest Supply A.ct already passed, or that may hereafter be passed during the present session of Parliament.
