PARLIAMENT.
[DNITKD PBESB ASSOCIATION.] Thursday, Juhh 27. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. The Council met at 2.30. ANIMALS PROTICTION. Sir P. Buckley moved the second reading of the Animals Protection Bill.^ He remarked that one of its provisions sought to prevent the introduction of a noxious bird known as the wood pigeon, while another clause made it penal for the captains of vessels bringing vipers, scoip ons, etc- amongst the cargo. The second reading was agreed to. poisons. Sir P. Buckley moved the second reading of the Sale of Poisons Bill, which, ha remarked, affected all goods, whether property or merchandise. The Bill which was an important one, was precisely similar to. the Act recently passed by the Imperial Parliament. The second reading was agreed to. NEWSPAPER REGISTRATION. On the motion of Sir P. Buckley, the Printers and Newspapers Kegistration Bill was referred to the Statutes Revision Committee, after a protest from the Hon Mr Feldwick, who said the measure was the laughing sfcock of all political newspaper men. The Bill would, if passed, prove thoroughly unworkable.
