POULTRY AND DOG ASSOCIATION.

The Committee of the Association held a special meeting last night at the Grosvenor Hotel to consider the resignations of Mr B. Keys as President and Mr Carmine as Secretary. Mr F. Shaw occupied the Chair. Mr Keys wrote that he was obliged to resign on account of pressure of business and for private reasons At the suggestion of the Chairman it was resolved to aak Mr Keys to re-conßider his decision ; and Messrs Shaw and Hall were appointed to deputationise Mr Keys and ask him to continue m office. In .regard to the Secretary's resignation the Chairman explained that. Mr Carmine, as a member of the Telegraph staff, had received orders of removal to Napier. The Association, as a whole, would sincerely regret to lose the valuable services of Mr Carmime, and he extended on its behalf a hearty wish for his future welfare. During his short term of 1 office Mr Carmine had done double and treble as much as had been done m pass years ; and he was only sorry that the Society was not m sufficient funds to give him a substantial recognition ; however, a souvenir of some kind would no doubt be forthcoming. ' The resignation was accepted and a hearty vote of thanks accorded to Mr Carmine. In expressing his acknowledgments, Mr Carmine said that if the Committee would pull together he felt sure the Society would soon be placed on a sound basis. He would m his new sphere do his utmost for the welfare of the Association, even though not connected with it. The appointment of a new Secretary was then considered. Throe names were submitted, snd it was proposed to advertise for applications. Eventually it was decided to appoint Mr W. Dobson fo the position. The Secretary reported that he had received a trophy of the value of 10s 6d from Messrs J. H. Cock and Co., of Nelson, for the purposes of the Show ; and Mr Hall reported a donation of 5s from Mr A. Munro. The meeting then adjourned to Tuesday night.
