THE BLENHEIM BIFLES.

4 The Blenheim Rifles met for drill, etc, last night, and after inspection were marched out to near the Borough Schools, where they were exercised m marching and extending by Lieuts Fowler and Salmon. After the parade the annual meeting was held, when the balance sheet and accounts up to date were presented by Major Rogers and adopted by the Company. Major Rogers then took the opportunity of thanking the members for their consideration m the past, and m handing over charge to Lieut Fowler, he said he need scarcely remind the company that that gentleman had practically been m charge of the company and its affairs for the past six or seven years, as .whenever they had been at an encampment other duties had been forced on himself. During the last three years, whilst he was m charge of the district, Mr Fowler had been altogether m charge of the company, and during that time had fully shown his competency to manage. Major Rogers remarked that though he was now completely severed from the company, he would always look upon it as being more particularly his company, and would always have a keen eye for its bearing whilst undergoing inspection or at battalion drill. After Major Rogers had retired, the Company unanimously and by acclamation resolved to elect him an honorary life memberof the corps. A petition was presented to Lieut. Fowler asking him to allow himself to be nominated to the vacant command, pointing out his fitness for that position, and the respect and esteem he was held m by members of the Company as well as the confidence they reposed m him. The other business of the meeting was adjourned till a date to be fixed by the officer commanding, when the report of the Shooting Committee will be received and the various committees elected for the year. A social gathering was held after the parade and a pleasant hour's enjoyment resulted. The next parade of the Company takes place on Thursday evening next and the firing for the Government medals was notified for Wednesday next, to start at 2 o'clock sharp.
